 Overview:

 

The Programmes Director (PD) key responsibilities include preparing proposals and reports for government donors, capacity building of implementing partners, networking, training and managing personnel, information sharing and relationship building between partners and external agencies.  The PD will also be responsible of monitoring project staff activities to ensure a high standard of work is maintained, providing support and training as necessary.

Reports to:  Southern Sector Associate Country Director

Job Location: Juba, Sudan

Salary: According to ADRA Sudan Wage Scale and Benefit Package

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Conceptualize, design and develop projects
  2. Coordinate field needs assessment and analyze results in coordination with programme personnel
  3. Review follow-on project proposals for new interventions
  4. Liaise with donors and lead out in identifying sources of funding for new programme initiatives to expand donor base
  5. Develop and strengthen monitoring, evaluation and feedback tools/systems
  6. Provide support for project managers in the Southern Sector projects/programmes
  7. Participate in regular project reviews
  8. Ensure adherence to donors and ADRA regulations/rules, including reporting requirements
  9. Conduct regular field visits to project sites at least quarterly and ensure effective project monitoring
  10. Participate in project budget review
  11. Participate in core management team activities
  12. Participate in ADCOM meetings.
  13. Represent the agency in programme-related government, donor and any other meetings as requested
  14. Keep the Associate Country Director informed of  activities on regular basis
  15. Perform other responsibilities as agreed with the Associate Country Director

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree in Social Science / International Development with advanced written communication, proposal writing, planning, training, and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum of three years experience in relief and development settings with programming, and planning/monitoring
  • Experience in managerial capacity building
  • Experience in guiding, managing and influencing teams of senior professional staff
  • Have high level of motivation and ability to manage programmes independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience in working to influence decision making at the policy level
  • Sensitivity to local cultural issues
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Willingness to do considerable in-country traveling
  • Excellent command of MS word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Has a passion for serving hurting people and is an enthusiastic motivator
