ADRA Pakistan
ADRA Pakistan operates three regional offices at Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi. The programme's sector focus includes: disaster relief and preparedness, education, adult literacy, water and sanitation, infrastructural support for educational classrooms and student housing facilities.
ADRA assisted Kashmir earthquake affected communities by providing medical supplies, tents and blankets to very isolated communities in the Bagh District. ADRA is now concentrating on reconstruction activities within several councils. In consultation with the government, ADRA will reconstruct an estimated 100 classrooms throughout this mountainous terrain. To support the total program, water and sanitation facilities will be located at the school sites, and to complement these activities teachers and community leaders will be trained how to promote health messages to their communities.
The Karachi Adventist Hospital continues to provide quality care for patients. The school of nursing provides excellent training opportunities for young people. ADRA has assisted the hospital with funds to refurbish the hospital facilities and provide technical equipment. Students and staff also participate in community outreach programmes which offer additional health care services and provision of water and sanitation facilities to vulnerable communities.
